MHS_Robotics_2009.JPGCongratulations to NOSHOK’s Engineering Manager Michael Lancaster and his FRC team on a very successful 2009 season in the Buckeye Regional FIRST Robotics Competition! Michael and his team made it to the finals, competed in every round of the competition, and walked away with some impressive awards.

FRClogo_color_rgbMichael’s team won the "Visualization Animation" contest with the theme of "going green". Their entry will go on to compete in Nationals, which will be held in Atlanta next month.  They also entered and won two safety contests before the competition began.  Open to all teams nationwide, these contests awarded the first 20 teams that passed the official safety test with safety shirts for the first contest, and a power tool for the second contest.  Michael’s team was one of only two teams at the Buckeye Regional that won safety awards. NOSHOK wishes Michael Lancaster and his FRC team good luck at Nationals!

Joe_551lb.JPGNOSHOK not only takes pride in the strength of our products, but also in our strong employees – and we mean that literally. Our Service Technician Joseph Lupia recently competed in a powerlifting competition at the Arnold Fitness Expo 2009, held on March 6th, taking home an incredible 3rd place finish after lifting a total of 1339 lbs in three contests.

In the squatting competition, Joe lifted 474 lbs., and hit 314 lbs. on the Bench Press. He finished with an all-time personal record of deadlifting 551 lbs., earning him a 3rd place medal in the competition.

Joe has been a dedicated lifter since he was 16 years old. He’s been training for over 20 years, and competing since 1992. His dedication has made him a three time ADFPA/USAPL Ohio state champion, and he’s also ranked in the top 5 in the state several times. Joe wanted to push his limits even further, and set his sights on a national title. In 2006, Joe achieved his goal and ranked #4 in the nation, and he’s currently ranked in #5 in the nation in the USAPL federation.

This year, for the second year in a row, he was invited to compete as one of the 50 Top USAPL Powerlifters in the country to compete at the Arnold Sports Festival. Joe’s next competition will be the Ohio State Powerlifting Championships in November 2009.  Congratulations to Joe on his winning performance at this year’s Arnold Expo!
