Specific Applications

Pulper

  • This is one of the most challenging and heavy-duty applications
  • The Pulper is a large tank where water, old used paper and/or cellulose are thrown in from the top which creates pressure spikes
  • A large agitator filters out particles such as glass, staples, etc.
  • Recommended NOSHOK Transmitters:
    • PTIx0-xpsig-x-x-76: 1-1/2" ANSI 150# Flange
    • PTIx0-xpsig-x-x-77: 2" ANSI 150# Flange
    • PTIx0-xpsig-x-x-78: 3" ANSI 150# Flange

Deflaker

  • Two pressure transmitters measure the pressure drop between the inlet and outlet pressure across the Deflaker
  • Range for both transmitters 0 -100 psi
  • Deflakers ensure excellent deflaking and defibering in bale pulp lines, coated paper, etc. which is necessary for optimal stock/fiber treatment in subsequent processes
  • Deflakers ensure homogenous stock for further processing
  • Recommended NOSHOK Transmitters:

Refiner

  • Two pressure transmitters measure the pressure drop between the inlet and outlet pressure across the Refiner
  • Range for both transmitters: 0-100 PSI
  • Refining is one of the most important stages in papermaking as it greatly affects the paper machine's performance and determines the quality of the paper and its final properties
  • After refining, the stock has improved fiber bonding capability and better printability with fewer web breaks
  • Recommended NOSHOK Transmitters:
    • PTIx0-xpsig-x-x-79: 1" PMC

Cleaner

  • Two pressure transmitters measure the pressure drop between the inlet and outlet pressure across the Cleaner
  • Range for both transmitters: various ranges
  • Cleaning involves removing small particles of dirt and grit by washing the stock with water and agitation which is done at different stages in the stock preparation
  • Recommended NOSHOK Transmitters:
    • PTIx0-xpsig-x-x-76: 1-1/2" ANSI 150# Flange
    • PTIx0-xpsig-x-x-77: 2" ANSI 150# Flange

Screen

  • Two pressure transmitters measure the pressure drop between the inlet and outlet pressure across the Screen
  • Range for both transmitters: various ranges
  • Screens provide effective removal of dirt and viscous particles out of the stock
  • The screening machines are located in various places throughout the stock preparation
  • Screens are based on rotating basket technology featuring continuous reject removal, and feature an inlet and outlet to separate sorted out material

Headbox

  • A flanged pressure transmitter must be used for pressure measurement on the Headbox
  • A flanged transmitter with an extended diaphragm is often used
  • Pressure measurement in the Headbox determines the speed control of the mixing pump
  • This is a critical high precision measurement that must be accurate
  • Recommended NOSHOK Transmitters:
    • PTI20-xpsig -x-x-76: 1-1/2" ANSI 150# Flange
    • PTI20-xpsig-x-x-77: 2" ANSI 150# Flange

300/400/600/700 Series Vapor Actuated Remote Dial Indicating Thermometers
  • Indicates media temperature using a temperature-actuated liquid in the sensing element and a highly accurate, high quality pressure gauge
  • As the media temperature increases, the capillary fill fluid vaporizes, increasing pressure in the Bourdon tube to activate the movement and pointer for proper indication
  • Ranges available from -40 °F/C to 60 °F/C through 100 °F/C to 350 °F/C
