NOSHOK Customer Support Specialist David Vargas recently volunteered at a June retreat held at the Joni and Friends International Disability Center. Joni and Friends International Disability Center is a church-based camp that provides services and encouragement for special needs families.
David was a companion to several children and adults with disabilities during the retreat, helping them to enjoy fun and fully-accessible activities including boating, horseback riding, swimming, beach activities and arts & crafts. This retreat also provided parents and siblings of children and adults with disabilities a much-needed break and well-deserved fun.
Joni Eareckson Tada, the Founder and CEO of Joni and Friends International Disability Center, is an international advocate for people with disabilities. A diving accident in 1967 left Joni Eareckson, then 17, a quadriplegic in a wheelchair, without the use of her hands. After two years of rehabilitation, she emerged with new skills and a fresh determination to help others in similar situations.
